Professional Development

Houston Center for Literacy provides adult literacy professional development conferences and trainings for teachers and staff, faith based organizations, and volunteers and tutors. We also partner with other organizations, to offer on-going best practice literacy training regionally and nationally, and support other literacy organizations offering professional development courses.

Please email trainings@houliteracy.org with any questions regarding professional development or to tell HCL about upcoming professional development training at your literacy organization that you would like share with other providers.

HCL is Here for You

Are you part of an adult literacy organization in the greater Houston area? We would love for your organization to become a member of the Mayor's Coalition for Literacy, an association of more than 125 adult literacy sites in Houston. HCL provides support to members of the Coalition through professional development courses, classroom resources, Mayor's Challenge Grants, and much more.

HCL strives to create a literate, prepared workforce by building high capacity, effective and top performing literacy agencies and programs throughout the greater Houston area. This work is done through best practice and resource distribution, advocacy, and volunteer training and placement.
