Our Demonstration Centers

In addition to the 175 literacy sites hosted by the Mayor's Coalition for Literacy, Houston Center for Literacy offers best literacy practices in three demonstration learning centers, located in areas of Houston where the need is greatest. Visit one of our demonstration centers to learn various aspects of running an adult literacy center, including: curriculum resources, data entry, center management, and much more.

These sites are funded exclusively by Texas Education Agency, with Houston Community College System serving as the fiscal and administrative agent. The locations are as follows:

HCL strives to create a literate, prepared workforce by building high capacity, effective and top performing literacy agencies and programs throughout the greater Houston area. This work is done through best practice and resource distribution, advocacy, and volunteer training and placement.
