Additional Services/Programs •Distance Education: Learners are able to supplement adult basic education, English as a Second Language, and GED preparation with distance learning—an internet-based course that allows learners to access class material online. •Literacy Helpline: The Commission’s Literacy Helpline links potential students and volunteers to literacy programs, either at one of the Commission’s Demonstration Learning Centers or at a literacy provider, Monday-Friday. Commission employees follow-up with callers to ensure they have found a learning center that meets their needs and determines if further referrals are necessary. The Literacy Helpline processes nearly 10,000 calls per year.
